सर्वाणी शक्तिपीठ को भगवान परशुराम द्वारा निर्मित पहला दुर्गा मंदिर माना जाता है और यह दुनिया के 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है। यह शक्तिपीठ हिन्द महासागर, बंगाल की खाड़ी और अरब सागर के संगम स्थल पर स्थित एक छोटे से समुद्री टापू पर है। मन्दिर का गुम्बद लाला पत्थरों से बनाया गया है।

तमिलनाडु के कन्याकुमारी के कन्याश्रम में माता सती के पृष्ठ भाग का निपात हुआ था। हालांकि कुछ विद्वानों का कहना है कि इस स्थान पर माता का उर्ध्व दन्त गिरा था। इसकी शक्ति हैं सर्वाणी और भैरव का नाम निमिष है। इसको सर्वाणी शक्तिपीठ श्री भगवती अम्मन मंदिर (Sarvani Shaktipeeth Sri Bhagavathi Amman Temple) कहा जाता है। इसको भगवान परशुराम द्वारा निर्मित पहला दुर्गा मंदिर माना जाता है और यह दुनिया के 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है।

कन्याश्रम को कालिकशराम और कन्याकुमारी शक्तिपीठ (Kanyakumari Shaktipeeth) के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यह शक्तिपीठ हिन्द महासागर, बंगाल की खाड़ी और अरब सागर के संगम स्थल पर स्थित एक छोटे से समुद्री टापू पर है। मन्दिर का गुम्बद लाला पत्थरों से बनाया गया है।

भगवती अम्मन मंदिर (Bhagavathi Amman Temple) को कन्याकुमारी देवी मंदिर के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। यह पार्वती को देवी कन्या के रूप में समर्पित है जिन्होंने भगवान शिव का हाथ पाने के लिए तपस्या की थी। मंदिर समुद्र तट पर स्थित है। देवी की चमकदार हीरे की नाक की अंगूठी विश्व प्रसिद्ध है। पास में कन्या देवी के पैरों के निशान भी दिखाई देते हैं। यहां स्नान घाट पर स्नान करना तीर्थयात्रियों के लिए विशेष रूप से शुभ माना जाता है।

यह मंदिर सुबह 4.30 बजे से 11.45 बजे तक और शाम 5.30 बजे से 8.45 बजे तक श्रद्धालुओं के लिए खुला रहता है।

रेल मार्ग : कन्याकुमारी रेलवे स्टेशन के लिए देश के कुछ ही प्रमुख शहरों से ट्रेन उपलब्ध है। ऐसे में आप नागरकोविल या तिरुवनन्तपुरम रेलवे स्टेशन तक ट्रेन से आ सकते हैं। नागरकोविल से कन्याकुमारी की दूरी करीब 16 किलोमीटर जबकि तिरुवनन्तपुरम से 85 किमी है।

सड़क मार्ग : चेन्नई, बेंगलुरु, मदुरै, कोयम्बटूर, ऊटी, होसुर, पाण्डिचेरी, तिरुचिरापल्ली और तिरुवनन्तपुरम से कन्याकुमारी के लिए बस सेवा है।

वायु मार्ग : निकटतम हवाईअड्डा तिरुवनन्तपुरम इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट यहां से करीब 90 किलोमीटर है।
