बेलूर, सोमनाथपुरा और हलेबिड के होयसाल मन्दिर भारत के सांस्कृतिक वैभव के प्रतीक हैं। हमारा इस बार का कर्नाटक दौरा इन्हीं को देखने, जानने और समझने के लिए था। भारत की इस अनमोल विरासत के बीच एक सप्ताह रहने के बाद भी हमारे पास दो दिन का समय बाकी था। ऐसे में तय हुआ कि चित्रदुर्ग के किले (Chitradurga Fort) को देखने के बाद तुमकुर होते हुए बंगलुरु पहुंचा जाये जहां से हमें दिल्ली की फ्लाइट पकड़नी थी।

चित्रदुर्ग किले का इतिहास (History of Chitradurga Fort)
पौराणिक अभिलेखों के अनुसार चित्रदुर्ग क्षेत्र का नाम कभी चिनमुलाद्रि और हिडिम्बिपट्टन था। कल्याण और होयसल के चालुक्यों के अभिलेखों में इस स्थान का उल्लेख विभिन्न रूप से सुलगल्लु, बेम्माथनगल्लू, बेम्माथनुरु, ब्रम्हपुरीगेरी, पेरुमलेपुरा, चिंचनगिरिदुर्ग, शिंगानागिरिदुर्ग और चिंताकालदुर्गा के रूप में किया गया है। 18वीं शताब्दी तक यह चित्रकल्लुदुर्ग के नाम से प्रसिद्ध था।
चित्रदुर्ग किले (Chitradurga Fort) का इतिहास सम्भवतः 15वीं शताब्दी के अन्त से 18वीं शताब्दी के प्रारम्भ के बीच का है। इस किले को किसने बनवाया, इसके कोई प्रामाणिक ऐतिहासिक तथ्य उपलब्ध नहीं हैं। हालांकि इतिहासकार इस बात पर एकमत हैं कि उस कालखण्ड में जो भी इस क्षेत्र का अधिपति रहा उसने इस किले को बनवाने में योगदान दिया जिनमें राष्ट्रकूट, चालुक्य और होयसाल प्रमुख थे। इसके बाद यहां पर वाल्मीकि नायक वंश का शासन रहा जिसकी राजधानी चित्रदुर्ग थी। विजयनगर साम्राज्य के कुल 77 क्षेत्रों पर नायक वंश का शासन रहा है। नायकों का राजवंशीय शासन 200 वर्षों से अधिक समय तक चला।
1799 में चौथे मैसूर युद्ध में अंग्रेजों की फौज से युद्ध करते हुए टीपू सुल्तान की मौत हो गयी और मैसूर साम्राज्य को वोडेयार के अधीन पुनः व्यवस्थित कर दिया गया। चित्रदुर्ग मैसूर प्रान्त का हिस्सा बन गया। अंग्रेजों ने चित्रदुर्ग किले को मैसूर की उत्तरी सीमा पर रक्षा की एक मजबूत रेखा प्रदान करने के लिए एक संभावित उपयोगी आधार माना। 1799 और 1809 के बीच अंग्रेजों ने किले में अपने सैनिकों की घेराबंदी कर दी। बाद में किले का नियंत्रण मैसूर सरकार को बहाल कर दिया गया।
पुरातत्वविदों को ब्रह्मगिरि के पास अशोकन काल के रॉक एडिट मिले हैं जो चित्रदुर्ग को राष्ट्रकूट, चालुक्य और होयसाल के शाही राजवंशों के शासनकाल के दौरान मौर्य साम्राज्य से जोड़ते हैं।
हजार स्तम्भ मन्दिर : तीन देवताओं को समर्पित त्रिकुटालयम
चित्रदुर्ग किले की संरचना (Structure of Chitradurga Fort)
चित्रदुर्ग किले (Chitradurga Fort) को “सोने का किला” भी कहा जाता है। वेदावती नदी के तट पर 1500 एकड़ में फैला यह किला समुद्र की सतह से 976 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। इसकी संरचना बहुत ही आश्चर्यजनक है और पर्यटकों को सहज ही अपनी और आकर्षित कर लेती है। यह किला कई मार्गों, एक गढ़ और सात संकेन्द्रित किलेबन्दी दीवारों की श्रृंखला में बनाया गया है। इन दीवारों के कारण इसे “एलुसुत्तिना कोटे” अर्थात् “सात चक्रों का किला” भी कहा जाता है। यह देश के सबसे मजबूत पहाड़ी किलों में से एक है। इसमें मूल रूप से 19 प्रवेश द्वार, 38 पश्च-द्वार, 35 गुप्त प्रवेश द्वार और चार अदृश्य प्रवेश द्वार होने चाहिए थे। इनमें से कई का अस्तित्व खत्म हो चुका है। दरवाजे लकड़ी की मोटी बीम से बने थे जिनमें लोहे की प्लेटें लगायी गयी थीं। यह किला अपनी परिष्कृत जल संचयन प्रणाली के लिए प्रसिद्ध है जिसमें बरसाती पानी के संरक्षण की समुचित व्यवस्था की गयी थी। परस्पर जुड़े टैंकों का उपयोग वर्षा जल संचयन के लिए किया जाता था। कहा जाता है कि किले में कभी भी पानी की कमी नहीं होती थी। किले में अनाज और तेल गोदाम, व्यायामशाला, 40 फीट ऊंचा स्विंग स्टैंण्ड, वॉच टावर, गन होल, सैन्य आवास आदि भी बनाए गये थे। इसके परिसर में गोपाला कृष्णा, वनानम्म्मा, हनुमान, नन्दी, सुबराय, फाल्कनर्स और सिद्देश्वर समेच कुल 18 मन्दिर हैं। हिडिम्बेश्वर यहां का सबसे पुराना मन्दिर है। किले के सबसे निचले सिरे में देवी दुर्गा को समर्पित अत्यनत सुन्दर मन्दिर है। हैदर अली के शासनकाल में यहां एक मस्जिद भी बनाई गयी। इस आलीशान किले का रखरखाव अब भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण द्वारा किया जाता है।
चित्रदुर्ग के आसपास के प्रमुख दर्शनीय स्थल (Major tourist places around Chitradurga)
वाणी विलास सागर बांध : यह अत्यन्त आकर्षक बांध चित्रदुर्ग से लगभग 32 किलोमीटर दूर है। वेदवती नदी पर इसका निर्माण मैसूर के शासकों द्वारा स्वतंत्रता-पूर्व किया गया था। कर्नाटक का यह सबसे पुराना बांध वास्तुकला का एक उत्कृष्ट नमूना और अपने समय का एक इंजीनियरिंग चमत्कार है। इसका प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य भी अद्भुत है। यह चित्रदुर्ग जिले का सबसे लोकप्रिय पर्यटन स्थल है।
गायत्री जलाशय :
चित्रदुर्ग से करीब 60 किलोमीटर दूर सुवर्णमुखी नदी पर बने इस बांध का निर्माण 16वीं सदी में मैसूर नरेश ने करवाया था। करीब 10 एकड़ में फैला यह जलाशय इस क्षेत्र का एक प्रमुख विरासत स्थल है। ग्रेनाइट से बना यह आयताकार जलाशय 24 फीट गहरा है। यह चित्रदुर्ग के प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थलों में शामिल है।
चन्द्रावल्ली गुफाएं : ये गुफाएं चित्रदुर्ग शहर से लगभग चार किलोमीटर दूर जमीन से 80 फीट नीचे स्थित हैं। इनको अंकाल मठ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इन गुफाओं के पास ही स्थित भगवान शिव को समर्पित चन्द्रावल्ली मन्दिर में पांच शिवलिंग है। मान्यता है कि इनकी स्थापना पाण्डवों ने की थी। इस मन्दिर के प्रवेश द्वार पर होयसला राजा नरसिम्हा तृतीय के शासनकाल से सम्बन्धित 1286 ईसवी का एक शिलालेख है। चन्द्रावल्ली में हुई खुदाई में विजयनगर, सातवाहन और होयसला राजवंशों के सिक्के, मिट्टी के बर्तन, चित्रित कटोरे, रोमन सम्राट ऑगस्टस सीज़र के समय की मुद्रा दीनार और दूसरी शताब्दी ईसा पूर्व के चीनी हान राजवंश के सम्राट वू टीआई का एक सिक्के मिला है।
नायकनहट्टी मन्दिर :
चित्रदुर्ग से लगभग 35 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित नायकनहट्टी मन्दिर एक आकर्षक तीर्थस्थल है। यहां ऋषि थिप्पेरुद्रस्वामी की समाधि भी है।
होल्केरे गणेश मन्दिर :
चित्रदुर्ग से लगभग 35 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित होल्केरे गणपति मन्दिर अत्यन्त भव्य है। यहां पर भगवान गणेश की बाल्यवस्था की नौ फीट ऊंची दर्शनीय मूर्ति है। होल्केरे धीरे-धीरे एक लोकप्रिय पर्यटन स्थल के रूप में उभर रहा है।
अडूमल्लेश्वर मन्दिर : चित्रदुर्ग किले से चार किलोमीटर दूर स्थित अडूमल्लेश्वर भगवान शिव को समर्पित एक प्राचीन गुफा मन्दिर है। यहां नन्दी प्रतिमा के मुख से बारहों मास जलधारा निकलती है। मन्दिर परिसर में एक छोटा चिड़ियाघर भी है जिसमें बाघ समेत कई तरह के जानवर हैं। मन्दिर के सामने एक तालाब है जिसमें कई प्रजातियों की मछलियां देखने को मिलती हैं।
दशरथ रामेश्वर मन्दिर :
चित्रदुर्ग जिले में होसदुर्ग के समीप स्थित दशरथ रामेश्वर मन्दिर को वरजरा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। मान्यता है कि अयोध्या नरेश दशरथ ने इसी स्थान पर हिरण समझ कर अनजाने में श्रवण कुमार पर तीर चलाया था। अपने इस पाप का प्रायश्चित करने के लिए उन्होंने अपने पुत्र राम के साथ यहां पर एक शिवलिंग की स्थापना की। इसका उल्लेख कुछ रामकथाओं में भी मिलता है।
जोगीमित्ती :
चित्रदुर्ग से 14 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित जोगीमित्ती एक लोकप्रिय पर्वतीय पर्यटन स्थल है। इसको “ब्यूटी एट द ग्रेट एपिटोम” के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यहां के पहाड़, घाटियां, जंगल और बाग-बगीचे मिलकर कई शानदार परिदृश्यों की रचना करते हैं। यहां केदार जलप्रपात और एक गुफा है। इस गुफा में शिवलिंग और वीरभद्र स्वामी की मूर्ति स्थापित है।
जामिया मस्जिद : यह चित्रदुर्ग का सबसे खूबसूरत मस्जिद है जिसका निर्माण मैसूर के सुलतान फतेह अली टीपू द्वारा करवाया गया था।
चित्रदुर्ग के प्रमुख उत्सव (Major festivals of Chitradurga)
नायकनहट्टी मन्दिर में हर साल फाल्गुन माह में भव्य उत्सव का आयोजन किया जाता है। चित्रदुर्ग में इसके अलावा गणेश चतुर्थी, गौरी महोत्सव, पट्टडकल नृत्य महोत्सव, महामस्तकाभिषेक आदि उत्सव मनाये जाते हैं।
कब जायें चित्रदुर्ग (When to go to Chitradurga)
चित्रदुर्ग किला (Chitradurga Fort) सुबह छह बजे से सायंकाल छह बजे तक खुला रहता है। आप चित्रदुर्ग व आसपास के स्थानों पर साल के किसी भी महीने में घूमने जा सकते है। हालांकि यहां जाने का सबसे अच्छा समय अक्टूबर से मार्च के बीच का है।
ऐसे पहुंचें चित्रदुर्ग (How to reach Chitradurga)
वायु मार्ग : चित्रदुर्ग किले (Chitradurga Fort) का निकटतम बड़ा हवाईअड्डा बंगलुरु इण्टरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट यहां से करीब 222 किलोमीटर दूर है। हुबली एयरपोर्ट यहां से करीब 213 किमी पड़ता है जहां से केवल कुछ घरेलू उड़ानें ही हैं।
रेल मार्ग : चित्रदुर्ग रेलवे स्टेशन से किला मात्र ढाई किलोमीटर दूर है। बंगलुरु, मैसूर, वाराणसी, होसपेट, एर्नाकुलम, बरौनी आदि से यहां के लिए ट्रेन सेवा है। चिकज्जुर जंक्शन चित्रदुर्ग किले से करीब 44 किमी पड़ता है जहां से टैक्सी, टैम्पो, बस आदि मिलते हैं।
सड़क मार्ग : चित्रदुर्ग किला बंगलुरु से करीब 202, तुमकुर से 133, मैसूर से 286 किमी, शिवमोग्गा से 106 और हम्पी से लगभग 144 किलोमीटर पड़ता है। चित्रदुर्ग शहर बंगलुरु-पुणे राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर स्थित है। इस मार्ग पर चलने वाली केएसआरटीसी की बसों से आप यहां तक आसानी से पहुंच सकते हैं। आसपास के शहरों से चित्रदुर्ग के लिए टैक्सी भी मिलती हैं।
