भगवान शिव का 12वां ज्‍योतिर्लिंग घृष्‍णेश्‍वर (Grishneshwar) के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। इसे घुश्मेश्वर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यह मन्दिर महाराष्ट्र के औरंगाबाद जिले में दौलताबाद से लगभग 18 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित है। पुराणों के अनुसार भगवान शिव अपनी परम भक्त घुष्मा के कहने पर यहां ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में स्थापित हुए थे। द्वादश ज्योतिर्लिंगों में यह अन्तिम ज्योतिर्लिंग है। वर्तमान में मौजूद मन्दिर का निर्माण 16वीं शताब्दी में छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज के दादाजी मालोजी राजे भोंसले ने करवाया था। 18वीं शताब्दी में इन्दौर की महारानी अहिल्याबाई होलकर ने इसका पुनरोद्धार करवाया।  विश्व प्रसिद्ध अजन्ता और एलोरा गुफाएं इस मन्दिर के मार्ग पर पड़ती हैं।

शिव महापुराण में भी घृष्‍णेश्‍वर ज्योतिर्लिंग (Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga) का उल्लेख है। मान्यता है कि शिव के इस स्वरूप के दर्शन-पूजन से सभी तरह की मनोकामनाओं की पूर्ति होती है। खासकर यहां निसंतान दम्पति अपनी मनोकामना लेकर आते हैं। शास्त्रों के अऩुसार यहां मौजूद तालाब में घुष्मा स्वयं के बनाये गये शिवलिंगों का विसर्जन करती थी और इसी तालाब के किनारे उसको अपना पुत्र जीवित मिला था।

नागरा शैली में बने इस मन्दिर की उंचाई के लगभग आधे भाग तक लाल पत्थरों पर भगवान विष्णु के दशावतारों के अलावा और भी कई देवी-देवताओं की मूर्तियां उकेरी गयी हैं। नागरा वास्तुकला की दृष्टि से यह मन्दिर अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है। मन्दिर में तीन द्वार हैं- एक महाद्वार और दो पक्षद्वार। सभा मण्ड़प पत्थर के 24 स्तम्भों पर बना है जिन पर जटिल नक्काशी की गई है।  मन्दिर में गर्भगृह का आकार 17 गुणा 17 फीट है जो अन्य ज्योतिर्लिंग मन्दिरों के गर्भगृहों की अपेक्षा अधिक बड़ा है। इस कारण श्रद्धालुओं को पूजन और अभिषेक करने के लिए पर्याप्त जगह मिल जाती है। इसके अलावा पूर्वाभिमुख शिवलिंग का आकार भी अन्य ज्योतिर्लिंगों की तुलना में थोड़ा बड़ा है। घृष्णेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग (Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga) मन्दिर की एक विशेष बात यह है कि यहां 21 गणेश पीठों में से एक पीठ लक्ष विनायक मौजूद है।
